As Managing Director of Corcoran’s thriving Westside office, Elaine Dean oversees a large team of sales agents who rely on her expertise and open-door management style to enhance their business. Elaine, who herself began her real estate career as a sales agent in 1985, was integral to the success of The Corcoran Group Westside since its opening in 1989. As a result of her business sense, market savvy and outstanding people skills, she quickly rose to management and helped grow the office from 20 agents to its current 100.
Elaine who was trained as a teacher, decided on a career in real estate fairly early in her business life, after working as a teacher in NYC and a five-year hiatus to raise her two sons. While selling properties on Manhattan’s Eastside, she recognized the then-untapped potential of the Westside marketplace and with a partner created a Westside department for a small residential firm prior to joining Corcoran. She has grown up in the New York real estate community and her extensive experience both in the field and behind the desk, her solid business judgment and her reputation for balance and fairness, has gained her respect at Corcoran and within the industry.
Whether simply offering encouragement to make an agent’s trying day more tolerable or helping with ideas on how to present a hopeful buyer to a strict coop board, Elaine is constantly available to her people. Her understanding of the Manhattan marketplace and the people and polices that make it unique coupled with boundless energy and an engaging personality, make her ideally suited to support her agents’ efforts and help them achieve their career goals. Elaine’s responsibilities include administrative oversight of daily office operations and maintaining a pleasant and efficient work environment.
Elaine is also actively involved with the Real Estate Board of New York. She is a member of REBNY’s Westside Committee, which she chaired for two years, and is the current co-chair of the Ethics Committee. In addition, she serves on the Interfirm Committee and the Deal of the Year Committee, which organizes the annual fundraiser in conjunction with this prestigious industry award.
